Advertising with Adwords

Note: This article is similar to Lesson #5 of our ‘Selling Online 101′ email course.

Adwords is a great promotional technique that can be quite effective for your business. It involves having small advertisements for your business being posted on the websites of others. In a world where millions access the internet every day, this type of advertising is very effective and has a great reach. A percentage of that traffic will likely effect in an increase of sales for your business.

It is less costly than other types of advertising because you only pay when a consumer clicks your link from one of the websites you are advertising on. This is a great opportunity for new businesses, small businesses, those on a low marketing budget, and larger businesses that are looking at ways to market their products or services while cutting out unnecessary costs.

Take a moment to surf the internet randomly. I am certain you will find several sites that offer advertisement links for other businesses.  Are you ready to give  Adwords a try? The process is very simple: You will need to go to http://adwords.google.com. Here you will complete an application. It is crucial to use relevant keywords for your products or services as this is how matches will be made to relevant websites who will be posting your ads. Google Adsense offers great tutorials to help you select the right keywords for your business.

Google Adwords allows you to create your own ads just like you would for any other type of promotional campaign. Their program allows you to format for specified languages and geographic locations. once the ads are posted on various websites consumers can choose to click on the link and be directed to your website.
This is the only time you will pay the host website (actually you pay google and they pay the adsense host). When you set up your ad campaigns, you will decide how much you are willing to pay per click on your advertisement. You will also have the opportunity to change and edit your ads any time you like. If the advertising is going well you may be able to expand the quantity of sites you advertise on.

There is a five dollar activation fee to set up an account on Google Adwords. Most credit cards can by used for payment as can Paypal. There is no minimum dollar guantity you have to pay each month. Again, you only pay when consumers click on your link from a website you are running your ads on. If they access a webpage with your advertisement on it and read it but don’t click on it, then you’ll pay nothing.

As with most other types of business, there are scammers out there waiting to take advantage. Click fraud is a problem with Adsense advertising. Click fraud involves setting up a system to click on advertisement links or doing it manually to earn more money from the business that is marketing. Another reason click fraud is done, is to damage competitors by clicking on their advertisements, knowing they will have to spend more. If you participate in Google Adwords for your promotional needs, it is a good thought to buy Click Fraud software for your own security. Google also works very strictly to monitor such fraudulent activities.

Adwords is a great opportunity for you to advertise your business while not spending a great ammount of money on it. It is very effective because the internet is visiting by millions of consumers every and each day. To get the most out of Adwords marketing with Google, make sure you purchase Click Fraud software to minimize the possibility of being taken advantage of by those out to make money at your cost or competitors wanting to see you waste your earnings on high advertising bills.
